Will a Landfall eSIM work on my phone?

Your phone needs to support eSIM and must not be locked to a carrier. Most phones from the last few years do. Check your phone before you buy.

When do my days start?

It depends on the plan, and the plan page says which before you buy:

  • Starts when it first connects at your destination: most plans. Install at home on Wi-Fi and leave the line off; your days begin when you land and switch it on.
  • Starts when you install it: a few plans. Install it shortly before you travel.

If you switch the line on with data roaming before you arrive, a plan can start early, so keep it off until you land.

When should I install it?

Before you travel, while you're on Wi-Fi at home. Leave the line switched off until you land, then turn it on and turn on data roaming for it. Most plans don't start counting days until they first connect at your destination; the plan page says when yours starts.

How do I install my eSIM on an iPhone?

Install it before you travel, while you're on Wi-Fi.

  • On the iPhone itself: open your order page and tap Install on this iPhone (iOS 17.4 or later).
  • With the QR code: open your order page on another screen. On the iPhone, go to Settings › Mobile Service › Add eSIM › Use QR Code, and scan it.
  • By hand: in the same screen, choose Enter Details Manually, then copy the SM-DP+ address and the activation code from your order page.

Name the line "landfall", keep your usual line for calls and messages, and leave the landfall line off until you land. Then turn it on, turn on Data Roaming for it, and choose it for Mobile Data.

Do I get a phone number?

No. Landfall eSIMs are data only, unless a plan says otherwise. Calls and messages over apps like WhatsApp, FaceTime and LINE work as usual.

Can I keep my usual SIM in my phone?

Yes. On a dual-SIM phone your usual SIM stays in place for calls and texts while Landfall handles the data. Turn off data roaming on your usual SIM so your home carrier doesn't charge you.

How do I get online when I land?

In your phone's mobile settings, choose the Landfall line for mobile data and turn on data roaming for it. Your phone then joins a local network.

It isn't connecting. What should I check?

Try these in order, and stop when it works:

  • Turn on data roaming for the landfall line. Travel eSIMs always roam, even where the network is local.
  • Choose the landfall line for mobile data.
  • Make sure the landfall line is switched on.
  • Turn Aeroplane Mode on, wait ten seconds, then off. If that doesn't help, restart your phone.

Can I add more data?

Many plans can be topped up on the same eSIM, with no new QR code. If yours can, the options are on your order page.

I deleted the eSIM. Can I get it back?

Please don't delete it while you still need it. If you already have, contact us with your order number and we'll check what we can do.

Can I use one eSIM on two phones?

No. An eSIM installs on one device. For a second phone, buy a second eSIM.
